    1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and arrange a rack in the middle.
    2. Whisk together the cream, milk, eggs, ½ cup sugar, vanilla, liqueur, and salt into a medium bowl until the mixture is smooth. Evenly distribute the bread and walnuts into a 2-quart baking dish, and pour the custard mixture over the bread, allowing to soak for at least 15 minutes.
    3. Bring 8 cups of water to a simmer over medium heat.

    Rustic Apple Tart

    You will need:

    • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
    • Flour for the work surface
    • 3 Granny Smith apples
    • 1/3 cup sugar
    • 1 large egg yolk, beaten with 1 tablespoon water for an egg wash
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 2 tablespoons apple jelly

    Then you will need to:

    1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Open the pastry sheet and remove the paper. Fold the sheet back up. Roll out the pastry sheet, still folded, on a lightly floured surface, to an 8 by 14 inch rectangle. Trim off the edges with a pizza cutter or sharp paring knife. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet and place in the freezer. Peel, core, and slice the apples to ¼ inch thick. Toss in a large bowl with sugar.
    2. Brush the pastry egg wash, avoiding the edges. Use a sharp paring knife to score a ¾ inch border around the pastry but don’t cut all the way through. Place the apples inside the border and dot with the butter. Bake until the pastry is golden and the apples are tender, about 30 to 35 minutes.
    3. In a small saucepan, heat the jelly with 1 tablespoon water until melted. Brush the apples with the glaze. Serve the tart warm.

    Ingredients:

    • 1 ½ pounds petite filet, beef or shoulder tenderloin
    • 6 large tomatillos
    • Salt and pepper
    • Vegetable oil spray
    • 3 tablespoon canola oil
    • 1 chopped large onion
    • 4 chopped cloves of garlic
    • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
    • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
    • ½ teaspoon Mexican oregano
    • 1 cup room temperature lager beer
    • ½ cup canned green chilies, drained
    • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 teaspoon mild-flavored honey
    • 4 hoagie rolls
    • 2 cups shredded Monterey jack cheese

    Directions:

    1. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Freeze the meat for 10 minutes.
    2. On a baking sheet, spray the tomatillos with the vegetable oil, season with salt and pepper. Roast the tomatillos until they are charred, about 20 minutes.
    3. While the tomatillos are roasting, heat up 3 tablespoons canola oil in a cast iron skillet or griddle over medium high heat. Add the garlic, onion, cumin, oregano, and coriander. Sauté until the onions are tender, about 10 to 12 minutes. Reduce the heat by half.
    4. Puree the roasted tomatillos in a food processor with the cilantro, chilies, and honey. Add the tomatillo puree to the skillet, keeping the salsa verde mixture at a simmer.
    5. Cut the meat against the grain. Add 1 tablespoon canola oil to a clean cast iron skillet or griddle pan over high heat. Sear and toss the meat to cook through, working in batches. Once all the meat is browned, dress with Worcestershire.
    6. Turn on the broiler. Pile the meat on your roll bottoms, scatter cheese on top, and arrange on a baking sheet. Broil for 1 minute to melt the cheese. Before serving, add lots of salsa verde and the bun tops, and enjoy!
